Year after year, DTE raises rates, despite many households facing unaffordable energy bills as it is. DTE benefits by keeping the rates they charge customers confusing, with hidden extra charges and fees. At EEP, we are fighting back in a few ways. We intervened in DTE’s 2025 rate case – here’s our final testimony. And, we are creating a true cost of energy database based on real consumer utility bills, but we need your help.
This initiative addresses a major information gap: what people actually pay for energy. By collecting real utility bills from households like yours, we aim to build a community-based database that empowers advocacy and demands accountability.
How You Can Help
Step 1: Download 12 months of utility bills
- Log in to your DTE account
- Click “My Account History”
- Click “Statements”
- Click “View Statement”
- Download a pdf of each of the last 12 months
Step 2: Fill out our secure form to upload your bills and share key information about your household
If you have trouble with the form, you can email us directly and attach your bills
Your Privacy is Our Priority
We take data security seriously. We do not digitize or store any personal information. Bills are scanned for rate, fees and consumption data only. All bills are fully encrypted and stored securely, with no access to third parties, ever. Only aggregated, non-identifiable data is used for research and advocacy.
Together, we can put a human face to energy insecurity and advocate for the transparency and fairness our communities deserve.
